Whether rose lover, herb witch, playground fan or animal lover, there is something for everyone here. The many thematically oriented garden areas offer relaxation and leisure, but also new impulses for the design and care of the home garden.

A special highlight: the rose garden, designed in the shape of a long-stemmed rose, presents a wide variety of roses over an area of around 1,500 square metres.

The two large farmers‘ markets in spring and autumn are particularly popular with all Finkenrech visitors. The „Klingende Gärten“ event ushers in the summer with musical sounds and a large picnic.

Finkenrech offers the starting point for the Nordic.Fitness.Park and the entrance to the themed hiking trail „Forestry in Transition“ with its beautiful panoramic views and resting opportunities.

The Reden mine, which was closed in 1955, is now home to the Centre for Biodocumentation, Gondwana – The Prehistiorium, the Water Gardens, the SR3 summer pasture and recreational trails for cycling, skating and hiking around the large slag heap.

The Tourist Information Centre in the former administration building of the Reden mine offers comprehensive brochures on the Reden adventure site, the other attractions in the Neunkirchen district and what is on offer in the whole of Saarland. Hiking maps, tips on cycling tours and excursions in the region are also available here.

The old town of Ottweiler with its winding alleys and secluded squares is full of history and stories.

The Zibbelkapp“, a former keep from the 15th century, is the landmark of the former residence of the Counts of Nassau-Saarbrücken.

A visit is also worthwhile because of the numerous museums. Guided tours of the city take place regularly and are an unforgettable experience for individuals, families and small groups. Equally worth seeing is the baroque rose garden and the charming hiking trails around Ottweiler.

The 569-metre-high Schaumberg is one of the highest elevations in Saarland and the landmark of the municipality of Tholey. History has been written on and around the Schaumberg for over 2000 years. Since 1976, the Schaumberg plateau has been a Franco-German meeting place.

From the 37.5-metre-high observation tower, you can see across the Saarland to the Palatinate Forest, the Vosges Mountains and Hunsrück.

The Völklingen Ironworks is the world’s only completely preserved ironworks from the heyday of industrialisation and at the same time the first industrial monument of this era to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. It presents itself to its visitors as a highly exciting and fascinating place where past, present and future meet in the most diverse ways.

For many visitors to the Saarland, the view of the Saar Loop will remain unforgettable forever. Most of them say afterwards that they regretted not having seen it. From the „Cloef“ vantage point, the small natural wonder lies breathtakingly beautiful at the viewer’s feet. The Saar Loop is just as worth seeing from the water or the shore.
